Patricia J. Gallegos,
L.Ac., Dipl. Ac., M.Ac.O.M.
Keen observation and listening skills are proficiencies which require years of development and fine-tuning. More than 15 years as a Nationally Certified American Sign Language interpreter provided me with years of dedicated study of body language and human nature. The profession of interpreting required arduous attention to detail, and a strong ethical sensibility.
As a Licensed Acupuncturist, I use my highly specialized skills of observation to help me see and understand my patients at a profound level. I diagnose and prescribe treatment protocols which are very specific to each individual patient.
I am a general practitioner, which means I treat a variety of health concerns. Here is an abbreviated sampling: Respiratory: allergies, asthma, cold and flu, immunity boost Reproductive: difficult menses, no menses, painful menses, PMS, menopause, hot flashes, night sweats Digestive: diarrhea, constipation, no appetite, food allergies, heart burn Psychological: Mood swings, depression, irritability, Traumatology: PTSD, disaster relief, childhood trauma, Fibro Myalgia Syndrome Chronic Pain: Arthritis, back pain, overuse syndromes, Acute Pain: musculo-skeletal pain associated with sports injuries or other physical traumas. Cancer Support: chemo support, immune support, nausea relief, fatigue Addictions: relief from cravings and mood changes
I am passionate about the medicine and the responsibility that comes with it. I believe that all health care practitioners have a duty not only to their patient population, but to their community as well. This is why I am a registered member of SERV-OR. It is a first response disaster relief program here in Oregon which pre-certifies volunteer health care practitioners who will be the first-line of defense in the event of a disaster in our state. As a member of Acupuncturists Without Borders, I am trained and prepared to extend a healing hand to anyone, anywhere.
I received my Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (M.Ac.O.M.) from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. I have attended training programs and earned Continuing Education Units in courses that are specific to my areas of focus in traumatology, internal medicine and sports medicine.
The more I learn, the more I realize there is much more to learn. I am continuing my education in pursuit of my Doctorate degree. These plans include study in China.
